Tom Ford Lip Color in 'Aphrodisiac' (#19) From The Fall 2012 Collection

Colour and Pigmentation
Tom Ford Lip Color in 'Aphrodisiac' (#19) is an bright, deep, blue-toned pink.  A little goes a long way as it has excellent colour pigmentation.

Texture, Finish & Longevity
The lipstick feels fairly lightweight and comfortable when applied on the lips and it imparts a little bit of moisture/sheen.  I also found the lipstick to wear well throughout the day.

Scent
Direct from the tube, I detect a vanilla scent plus the unfortunate scent of something that I can only remind me of band aids or possibly hospital-grade disinfectant. /:-\  I wonder if that's got something to do with Tom Ford's Private Blend 'Tobacco Vanille' Eau de Parfum?  *shrug*  I haven't had the chance to smell it yet.  If anyone knows, please leave a comment below as I'm curious!  Luckily for my sensitive nose, it's not strong enough for me to smell it when it's applied to my lips.  Whew!

Taste
There's no noticeable taste to the lipstick when you lick your lips.  (I advise against eating it).  ;-)

Size
0.1 Oz / 3g of product.

Packaging
The lipstick packaging is quite luxurious. The square shape and sharp edges (slightly too sharp for my liking! Particularly the corners. :-o ;-) ) gives it a slightly masculine and retro look about it. It has gold edging and gold at both ends of the lipstick tube, with the Tom Ford "TF" logo imprinted at the top end or lipstick cap. You click to secure the cap into place (nothing fancy).  Compared to the original lipstick packaging which was an opaque white, this one has a finish which reminds me of deep amber/resin, which makes it a bit more interesting. :)  (Unfortunately, the photos below don't capture this detail as from afar it looks almost black, but up close you'll be able to see it yourself).
Product label and description at the bottom end of the lipstick.
The Tom Ford "TF" logo is even imprinted on the tip of the lipstick product itself!  Such a shame for it to come off after use.  I haven't yet been able to get myself to ruin the logo - so far, I've been scraping the product from the back with a cotton bud. Hehe... ;-)

Comparison Swatches
All swatches are against medium / light tan olive skin tone (~NC30-35).  Photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
As you can see from the swatches above, the shade is very close to the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in L'Exubérante (#37)L'Exubérante is a touch lighter and brighter and 'Aphrodisiac' is slightly more blue-toned deeper in colour.  In terms of texture and finish, the latter has a more velvety, matte finish with a slight hint of luminosity (what I call, the new / modern "matte" ;-) ), whereas 'Aphrodisiac' has a little more sheen, but not too much.  Overall, I would say that if you have either, the differences are not great enough to warrant having both, especially for the price tag.

Availability
Fortunately, this is a new shade that has been added to the permanent line. :-)

Overall Recommendation
I highly recommend this lipstick if it's within your budget and you don't already have one with a similar shade as it's not particularly unique.  It's a gorgeous, bright pink with a great formulation that makes it long lasting and feels comfortable on the lips.  It's quite versatile - the intense pigmentation means you can apply a very tiny amount and blend it very thinly across the lips to wear it more subtly as a lip stain, or wear it in full colour and coverage with a single full swipe straight from the bullet.  I know I will be wearing this quite a bit this spring and summer.  ^_^

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for visiting! ^_^ xo
